9 Ways to Make Your Home Look Clean in a Hurry
Have you ever received a call that company is coming over and your home is a total mess? Panic starts to set in. Where do I start? What should I pick up first? Will I get done in time? I need to clean!
I’m sure it would be nice to have the perfectly clean home all the time but let’s be real… Ain’t nobody got time for that!
We have little ones to take care of. Most of us don’t have time to clean the whole house in one day unless we have our spouse or family watch the kids. Or maybe you are just really good at multitasking! For me, I get a short amount of time to do as much as I can before baby needs me to pick him up. Time is precious and I take advantage of shortcuts when I can.
Now, are you ready to find out how to make your home look clean in a hurry?
I’ve found that if I follow these steps, my home looks so much cleaner without actually doing a ton of cleaning. Take a deep breath and let’s get this done mama!
1. Clear Clutter
Clear all the clutter from your kitchen table and counter tops. Clearing clutter makes your home look so much cleaner and open and is one of the first things people see when they walk in.
2. Arrange couch pillows and remove loose blankets
Fold any blankets laying around and either put them in a closet or lay them neatly on the arm of the couch. Arrange pillows up right and tidy.
3. Put toys away
If you’re a mom then I’m sure you always have some sort of toys scattered across the living room floor. Pick them up and put them away in a toy bin or away in your kid’s room.
4. Vacuum and or wipe down the floor
I have two big furry dogs so vacuuming is a MUST for me. Especially if it is shedding season. I do a quick vacuum to my downstairs living area. If you don’t have animals then vacuuming isn’t really necessary. You can do a quick wipe down of the floors with a disposable duster or disposable mop instead.
5. Put purses and backpacks away
These can be eyesores so just hang all bags in a closet.
6. Put shoes away
Sometimes shoes can pile up by the front door and those are an easy fix to make some space. Put shoes away in closet.
7. Wipe down surfaces
I use a homemade cleaner 1:1 distilled water and vinegar and a microfiber rag to wipe down kitchen table and counters.
8. Open blinds
Now, I know this isn’t cleaning but I promise it will open up your home to some natural light and make it feel so open and clean.
9. Light a candle or start diffuser
This always ties everything in and makes your home smell great and brings a nice touch to your living area.
Doesn’t your home look great?
It seems like you always clean the fastest when you know someone’s coming over, right? Use these steps to keep your sanity and get your home cleaned fast. Now that you’ve completed the steps, sit back and be proud of how fast you got that done! Save the deep cleaning for another day. You did good mama!
